• During the declared state of emergency (effective January 7) and for 30 days after, **California law prohibits landlords from increasing rent by more than 10%**.  

• Rent-controlled apartments may have stricter limits

• In  LA City and Unincorporated LA County, landlords cannot evict you for falling behind on rent unless you owe more than one month of  Fair Market Rent: 

  • Studio: $1,856  

  • One-bedroom: $2,081  

  • Two-bedroom: $2,625

  • Three-bedroom: $3,335  

  • Four-bedroom: $3,698  

Important: If you receive an eviction notice,  do not ignore it —seek legal advice immediately.
